Citizens of Everywhere and Nowhere

Responding to precariousness of modern society due to environmental change- a mini project to take a speculative approach to explore intersection between sustainability, community and culture.

The passport is an object of political significance—granting access to some while excluding others. This work rethinks our current systems, challenging the precarious nature of social and political boundaries in the context of the climate crisis.

Envisioning a future where environmental degradation drives mass migration, I designed a passport that could exist in such a world. In this context, abstract stamps indicate the number of years a specific location remains habitable. The passport prototype acted as a prompt to encourage discussions around identity and potential futures.

The passport features watermarks inscribed with “Citizen of Everywhere and Nowhere” and incorporates translucent acetate pages, symbolising transparency throughout the document.
