Audio Interface Design

This was a design project in partnership with music software company Forever 89, with the brief to design a physical interface which improves the experience of making music with their new software sampling platform ‘VISCO’.

When researching the electronic music industry, we noticed the large gap in terms of accessibility which exists- limiting who is able to make music. We wanted to create a device which improves the accessibility for this with reduced vision. We chose to rethink the interface of music making devices, prioritising haptic features and tactile elements to enhance the sensory experience.

Throughout this course I learnt a variety of skills involved in the design and production of samplers. I developed an understanding for Interface components, layouts, IO and the hardware development process involed in creating an electronic device.

Applied Skills: AI and Audio, Electronics and hardware prototpying, Fusion 360, Technical Drawing, Prototyping, Sustainable Hardware Design.
Collaboration with Kilian Wachowiak and Victor Molina @Fachhochschule potsdam.
